Dr. Angela Baylis, Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Angela Baylis, Doctor of Chiropractic, began her practice in Raleigh in 2000. She is certified and specializes in Applied Kinesiology (www.icakusa.com), Neuroemotional Technique (www.netmindbody.com), and NAET (www.naet.com). She offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art natural health and wellness care to her patients, working to achieve optimum results in the treatment of conditions ranging from chronic headaches, fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Joint Pain. Through her alternative treatments, she has been successful in helping women to treat PMS, menopause, infertility, allergies and hormone imbalances.

Dr. Baylis, a native of Winchester, Virginia, first realized her passion for chiropractic care at a young age after watching the effects of her mother's illness. Her mother would often have trouble swallowing, and it was then that her mother began seeing the chiropractor that ultimately helped her to recover. The impact this treatment had on her mother so affected Dr. Baylis that she decided to work three jobs to become a chiropractor. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas in 1998, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy from the same institution. She began treating patients in 1999 in her hometown.

Dr. Baylis has been active in a number of diverse civic, charitable and community activities over the years, including donating her time once a week to the Raleigh Rescue Mission where she provided free adjustments to relieve the pain of homeless families housed in the downtown facility. She has offered free trigger point massages to many Triangle residents through a number of organizations such as Rex Hospital's Annual Living With and Beyond Breast Cancer Health Fair, the North Carolina Child Advocacy Institute's Give and Take Chic Shoe Affair and the Raise the Racquet for Breast Cancer Awareness. In an effort to support the troops overseas, Dr. Baylis collected donations and letters of support from Triangle residents to let soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and other troops stationed away from home know that they are in Americans' thoughts and prayers. In 2006, she served as co-chair of Speaking of Women's Health and led efforts to organize a daylong event designed to influence women in making informed decisions about their health, well-being and personal safety. She is also a mentor to young adults who are interested in a career in Chiropractic and allows these young people to shadow her in her practice and learn more about this profession with hands-on activities and her guidance.

For her all of her efforts, Dr. Baylis was recognized as one of the Triangle Business Journal's 40 Under 40 in 2004, which honors up-and-coming leaders under the age of 40 who are making a difference in the community. She has been named a finalist in the 2004 Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs in the category of Best Young Entrepreneur, and received the Young Adult Leadership Award from the Women's Forum of North Carolina, recognizing her commitment to the community. In 2005, she was named a recipient of the Triangle Business Journal's Women in Business award, which honors area executives displaying strong leadership in business and was named Chiropractor of the Year by Parker College of Chiropractic out of 4,000 of her fellow alumni nationwide. Dr. Baylis is currently Chairperson of the Program Commitee for the Speaking of Women's Health 2008.
